Functional Integration with Alice is truly transformative. Physically, one session did more to alleviate an ongoing issue with my hip than months of physio. On a deeper level I was fascinated to observe how I left feeling literally able to see more of the world around me. It was as though the work had taken me into a state of deeply open and easeful awareness, leaving me feeling more grounded and connected. Alice is gentle, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable and I couldn’t recommend her work more.

The FI process is gentle and exploratory, without any pressure to perform or "do it right." People are encouraged to listen to their bodies and progress at their own pace. This makes it a safe and supportive environment, especially for those with physical limitations, injuries, or those recovering from surgery.
What to Expect:
-
A quiet, focused, and supportive atmosphere
-
Gentle guidance through hands-on touch and movement exploration
-
No "right" or "wrong" way to move — the focus is on discovery
-
The development of greater body awareness, improved function, and reduced pain or tension
-
Long-term benefits in mobility, flexibility, balance, and overall quality of life.

Functional Integration can be beneficial for anyone, whether you're recovering from an injury, trying to improve athletic performance, or simply seeking to improve the way you move and feel in your body. Through the experience of heightened awareness, you can learn to move with less effort, and live more comfortably in your own body.

Gentle Touch and Non-Invasive Techniques

In FI, the practitioner often uses a combination of gentle touch and manipulation to guide the person into more fluid, coordinated movements. The touch is not meant to be therapeutic in the conventional sense (like massage), but rather as a way to invite new ways of moving and sensing the body. The practitioner may gently move or support specific body parts (such as the neck, hips, shoulders, or spine) to help the person become more aware of their habitual patterns and explore new, more efficient ways of moving.
I am loving my Functional Integration sessions with Alice and would recommend her to anyone wanting to improve the way they move in their bodies. In the first session we concentrated on my feet which I have become aware haven’t been taking the weight equally since my running accident a few years ago.
Ever since the FI, I have been using that side much more fully and using the foot much more in contact with the ground. When Alice worked on the right ankle I felt a huge pressure in my jaw - it was incredible to feel how my body and is connected and how my different physical imbalances are related! I am full of questions, about how it works, most of which I don’t ask as I am just in the moment enjoying the session so much!
I always come away feeling much more grounded and activated, and in my body. Often I can feel quite tired after while my body processes the new information. After the second session I feel much more movement in my right hip when I walk and a greater opening in my ribs when I swim back crawl. After the third session my left arm was able to lie next to my body touching much more of the floor and I can feel more flexible movement in my upper back and spine!
Feldenkrais is really magic. And in Alice’s hands you feel safe, listened too and her full intention on working with your body. Unlike many physical therapies which help to re-organise the body - this is also super gentle! An incredible experience: Gain with NO pain!
If you are recovering from an injury, or aware of an imbalance in your physical body or posture - I can not recommend a one to one FI with Alice enough. I have felt benefit with every session I have had and can not wait to keep on exploring and improving! Thank you Alice!”
